Nutrafol Collagen Infusion Hair Wellness Booster

Nutrafol is well-known for its hair growth supplements in supporting men and women at every stage of their lives. For those experiencing hair loss and thinning, the company offers award-winning formulas that help to strengthen and support healthy hair through a whole-body approach. They address the root cause of hair issues including looking at factors such as hormones, stress, lifestyle, metabolism, nutrition, and aging, and formulate their products accordingly to help target.

In our review, we loved to see that the science behind their products is peer-reviewed and published. One other distinction for the brand is that they complete clinical trials for their finished products to show improved hair growth, as opposed to relying on ingredient studies.

They offer a Collagen Infusion formula that is available for purchase alongside their Hair Growth Nutraceuticals, which is offered as a bundled deal. This makes the overall purchase price a bit heftier when accounting for the fact you’re purchasing two products.

What’s in Nutrafol?

A good collagen powder should be formulated with bioavailability and potency in mind. This way, you can reap all the benefits possible. For Nutrafol, we noticed that their label specifies marine collagen, which is shown to be less potent and effective than bovine-derived collagen.

The website also boasts 100% natural, drug-free ingredients. There are no rules around the definition of “natural”, which means that as a consumer, you don’t always know how a brand will define this and what they will include in their supplement as a result. We noticed that the label includes 1 gram per serving of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) which is often used for reducing inflammation for conditions such as osteoarthritis. There is currently no recommended dietary allowance for MSM, and there is not enough reliable information to say if this ingredient is safe for consumption by pregnant and breastfeeding moms.

When it comes to collagen, we look for an ingredient list that is free of GMOs, and allergens. Nutrafol ticks all these boxes and is gluten, dairy, and soy-free.

How Does Nutrafol Taste?

We like the fact that Collagen Infusion is available in powder form, and we only need to add one single scoop to any hot or cold beverage. Another bonus is that it’s textureless and tasteless. The downside is that the recommended dosage is in combination with their Hair Growth Nutraceutical which requires taking four capsules daily for their 3-6 month recommended timeline to see results.

The Bottom Line

Nutrafol is the #1 dermatologist hair growth supplement brand and is backed by research and clinical studies. We can all agree that’s impressive! However, we rated them last on our list because not only are they not targeted for prenatal care, but their website discourages taking their Collagen Infusion Booster during pregnancy. This is confirmed when taking a look at their nutrition label. This is one we would recommend passing on.

Purchasing their Collagen Infusion is also a package deal, requiring the purchase of their Hair Growth Nutraceutical, making this option less than budget-friendly. Plus, it’s hard to imagine taking four capsules per day, especially when you’re already taking a prenatal and doing your best to get that down in the early days of pregnancy!
