Why We Rated Ancient Nutrition #4
Ancient Nutrition has a history of combining superfoods with ancient principles to create products that can be easily absorbed and used by the body. Their Multi Collagen Protein provides 10 types of collagen to help promote healthy skin, hair, joints, and digestion. Their collagen powder comes in a 45-serving container and is available to purchase one-time or as part of a subscription to save money.
What we like about this product is that it strictly follows good manufacturing practices (cGMPs), and is third-party tested. For each of their product lots, they work to show customers that their label claims match with testing, by issuing a Certificate of Analysis.

What’s in Ancient Nutrition’s Collagen?
Ancient Nutrition’s formula is created from multiple sources of collagen, including hydrolyzed bovine hide, fermented eggshell membrane collagen, and hydrolyzed fish collagen peptides. In addition, the formula packs a punch in the protein department with chicken bone broth protein concentrate. While getting multiple types of collagen is great for your body, the majority of research supports bovine-derived collagen, which also tends to be easier for your body to absorb and use compared to other types of collagen, like fish (marine) collagen.
One of the areas that set Ancient Nutrition apart from other collagens on the market is that each serving includes 2 billion CFUs of Bacillus coagulans, a resilient probiotic strain that’s intended to support gut health. Add to the mix around 90 milligrams of Vitamin C to meet your daily recommended value.
When it comes to probiotics and vitamin C, these can be helpful if you’re not supplementing elsewhere. Otherwise, they are less necessary in a collagen supplement. If you’re an expecting mother, you may already be taking a prenatal vitamin supplement that’s fulfilling these requirements. Like other supplements we’ve reviewed, the addition of extra vitamins can be a bit of an overkill, even when it comes to water-soluble vitamins. One other thing to keep in mind is that for pregnant moms, there isn’t enough research on the benefit and safety of regularly taking a probiotic during pregnancy, according to the American Pregnancy Association.
What’s the Flavor Like?
The Ancient Nutrition comes in a variety of flavors, including interesting ones like Cucumber Lime, Cold Brew, and Strawberry Lemonade. However, we were glad to see they offered an unflavored option. Based on our experience with collagen, this makes it way easier to add collagen to a variety of drinks and foods, whether it’s pancakes, soup, or a smoothie. Plus, when you think about morning sickness, unflavored is our go-to. Trust us, we know!
According to reviews, thoughts around the collagen powder being completely odorless or tasteless tends to go different ways. Most remark having no problems with the unflavored version, while others are less of a fan.
The Bottom Line
We can all agree that Ancient Nutrition packs several benefits and collagen types in one daily serving of collagen powder. Plus, we like that they take into account strict manufacturing practices and stand by their health claims.
If you’re not currently supplementing in other ways, this is also a great way to get your daily serving of vitamin C, while also working on the benefits of probiotics for healthy digestion. However, if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, and already taking supplements or are a little more sensitive to taste and odor, be aware that this product may not be the right fit.
